President Muhammadu Buhari has again appointed one of the close allies of Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi into his government.
So the two major supporters of Amaechi have so far received prominent positions in President Buhari’s government.
Ibim Semenitari, the former aide of Amaechi during his tenure as governor of Rivers state, received the post of the managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission on December 21, 2015.
Semenitari also worked in the communications directorate of the Buhari presidential campaign organisation during the last year presidential election.
Dakuku Peterside, another close friend of minister, became director-general of Nigerian Maritime administration and Safety Agency.

Peterside was the governorship candidate of APC in April 11, 2015 governorship election in Rivers State and also a former member, House of Representative from 2011 to 2015.
Some Nigerians are defining the nominations as compensations while others claim the appointments are an advance preparation for 2019 elections.

It seems that Amaechi is on his way to becoming one of the most powerful men in the south-south.
His confirmation of minister was postponed for two times as Senate committee on ethics considers accusation of corruption against him.
The minister seems to be the most controversial buhari’s minister.

The fate of Amaechi, arguably, one of the best performing governors in the last dispensation hangs was named as a moral burden on the All Progressives Congress Senate caucus.
Meanwhile, his most controversial political landmark was his role in arranging the successful campaign of the APC in the 2015 presidential poll.
