Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state has sought for the approval of the State House of Assembly for the creation of 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
Reading the governor’s letter during the plenary sitting on Thursday, March 9, Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Surajudeen Ishola Adekunbi said that the request was in furtherance of government’s attempt at meeting the yearnings of the people of the State through the delivery of democratic dividends.

According to the letter, “the creation of the Local Council Development Areas would further bring government nearer to the people and engender further development.
“I forward herewith the list of the existing and new Local Council Development Areas totaling 57 in all for your kind consideration in this regards”, the letter reads in part.
Earlier, the lawmakers have met with the leadership of the Labour Unions in the State led by the Chairman of the State chapter of the Joint Natioinal Negotiating Council, Comrade Abiodun Olakanmi.

They discussed extensively on the on-going strike by the state government workers over unpaid arrears and other emolument.
There is hope that the industrial action will come to an end soon, our correspondent reported.
Meanwhile, the State House of Assembly has invited the Management of the State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) to appear before the committee of the whole House.
A lawmaker representing Abeokuta North State Constituency, Hon. (Pastor) Olayiwola Ojodu had level allegation against one of the personnel of the agency and the lawmakers have invited them to come and clear their name on the allegation.
