IGP under fire over abducted Lagos school girls

The House of Representatives has mandated the inspector general of the police, Solomon Arase to intensify efforts towards the rescue of the three girls abducted from Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary School in Ikorodu, Lagos state.
The resolution by the House was sequel to a motion on matters of urgent public importance entitled “Urgent need to seek the release of abducted female students of Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary School in Ikorodu” sponsored by Babjimi Benson on Wednesday, March 2.
“More than 24 hours after the sad incident, the Nigeria police force and other concerned agencies of government have not been able to reunite the abducted girls with their parents.
“Worried that the incidence of insecurity in Ikorodu Federal Constituency is becoming worrisome as the security agencies of government are finding it difficult to protect lives and properties. The perpetrators should be caught and dealt with accordingly,” Benson told the House.
In her contribution, Ekpoattai Ime who described the situation as disheartening noted that is against God and humanity.
The House adopted the motion after it was put to a voice vote and mandated the police and other agencies to step up strict surveillance in Ikorodu and all schools in the state to avoid similar occurrence.
The House will also setup a special committee that will go to Lagos and interface with the school and state police command and on the matter.
Meanwhile, Nigerians in Abuja have embarked on a mass protest on Wednesday, March 2, to register their displeasure over the incessant killings in Agatu local government area of Benue state
