Former Chesapeake Energy CEO Dies In Blazing Crash The Day After Feds Indict Him
Everyone please don your tinfoil hats in earnest now, because this story has all the elements of a really strange murder mystery.
Aubrey McClendon is a wildcatter and the former CEO of Chesapeake Energy. He's also a rabid right-wing funder of all sorts of causes for the oil industry, according to PolluterWatch. McClendon has been a major funder of hard-right candidates and campaigns for years. He was also one of the funders of the Swift Boat campaign against John Kerry in 2004.
On Tuesday, a federal indictment was brought against McClendon for conspiracy to suppress oil and gas lease prices.
