Ted Cruz is projected to pull out 2 big victories over Donald Trump
Ted Cruz picked up at least two big victories in the Super Tuesday contests, as he was projected to win the Texas and Oklahoma Republican primaries.
Cruz won the Republican presidential primary in his home state of Texas, multiple outlets and television networks projected. Shortly afterward, The Associated Press projected that Cruz would win Oklahoma's primary.
The senator pulled out the victories over Republican frontrunner Donald Trump, delivering the mogul his most significant setbacks of an otherwise strong night. The wins were projected to be Cruz's second and third victories of the election season. He won last month's Iowa Republican caucuses, the first contest of the season.

The Lone Star State awards the most delegates of the night on the Republican side, with 155 being handed out. Oklahoma awards 43 delegates. But Cruz will likely have to split those delegates proportionally with Trump and possibly Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, if the candidates are above a 20% threshold.
Trump had won five states by the time Cruz picked up Texas and Oklahoma: Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Massachusetts, and Virginia.
