Presidential primaries delegate tracker, 2016
The Republican nomination contest technically lasts until June 7, when the last states vote. But in reality, the calendar is heavily frontloaded. By the time votes are counted on March 15, around 58 percent of delegates will already be bound to various candidates based on the results of primaries and caucuses so far. (Each state party sets its own rules about how exactly to allot its delegates, within some broad guidelines set by the national party.)
