Our hair is our crowning glory. However, bad hair days are just so stubborn that it always ruins our mood. So, we find a lot of ways and use a lot of products to be able to maintain our hair pretty and gorg. Every now and then, we try different brands of shampoos, conditioners, hair masks, treatments, and God knows what more. We won’t even last a day or two without shampoo especially if we got an oily scalp. Hair irons and blow dryers are our bestfriend.
But this 28-year-old woman named Kayleigh Conway decided to stop using any artificial product for her hair – which means no shampoo for a year. She called this the “No Poo Challenge.”
She started using no shampoo, conditioner, and other artificial products with chemicals that can leave her hair dry. Since March 2015, she tried a lot of natural alternatives for her hair care.
Kayleigh tried to combine different items. In her first attempt, she tried using vinegar to wash and clean her hair, and baking soda to condition it. But the result simply did not work for her. Her hair was not able to really dry properly.
The next attempts for homemade shampoo were a combination of coconut milk and aloe vera jelly. This mix only made her hair just as greasy. She even experimented with egg, corn flour, rye flour, and oatmeal, but still a fail.
Finally, Kayleigh found her perfect match. She first used vinegar to condition her hair, followed with rhassoul clay which removed the sebum that made her hair greasy. It was so brilliant, that Kayleigh said, “I also finally plucked up the courage to post a Facebook status announcing my wavy, fluffy hair was shampoo-free.”
Just by using vinegar and clay, Kayleigh found the solution to a shiny, healthy, and beautiful hair. Now, I am thinking about going “no poo”, too. Seems like a really good idea.
