Walking Up Lexington Avenue with Bob and Ray
Bob Elliott died at ninety-two. I had been in touch with him by phone for three years. I had told him how appreciated he still remains. During one call, I slowed my speech to become the President of The Slow Talkers of America, one of Bob and Ray’s best-known moments in their successful Broadway show, “Bob and Ray, The Two and Only.” After a pause, he said, with a touch of irritation, “Hurry it along,” while slightly lowering his voice, recalling Ray’s annoyed interviewer.
