The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has issued coach Sunday Oliseh a seven-day ultimatum to name the journalists who he alleged to have demanded money from him.

Earlier in the week, the Super Eagles coach responded to critics in a video series posted on the YouTube channel.

In a two-part-video response, Oliseh called his critics ‘insane‘ and suggested that a group of people in the media asked him to pay a bribe so they would write favourable reviews about his tenure.

This did not go well with SWAN as the association in a statement signed by its national secretary Andrew Abba, said that that Oliseh must come up with the names of the sportswriters involved.

“The Leadership of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria in its quest to ensure continuous sanity in the profession, and for the purpose of change mantra which is gradually revolving round every aspect of the economy, is requesting that the Head Coach names those journalists that approached him within the next seven days.

“This has become imperative considering the recent bashing the Sports Writers have been receiving from the NFF and its employees. It would be called that the NFF President only recently at the National Assembly took a swipe on the Sports Writers for being the brain behind their inabilities to secure sponsors for the Federation.

“Henceforth, SWAN would no longer fold its arms and watch people blame their misfortune on the association. We have, as major stakeholders, and would no longer tolerate people dragging SWAN in their maladministration and technical ineptitude,” the statement reads.

Meanwhile, ahead of the double-header against the Super Eagles of Nigeria, the head coach of the Pharaohs of Egypt, Hector Cuper, has disclosed that he intends to help the team defeat Nigeria, win the 2017 African Nations Cup and qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Egypt face the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Kaduna on March 23 in a crucial 2017 African Nations Cup (AFCON) qualifier, with the return-leg in Cairo five days later.
