Contrary to reports that Mrs Aisha Al-Hassan, Nigeria’s minister of women affairs said that she controls the decisions of the judiciary in Taraba state, Naij.com has gathered the truth.
According to the video about the woman popularly called Mama Taraba following her aspiration to emerge as Nigeria’s first female-elected governor, the minister was reported to have said that as one with authority at the top, the All progressives Congress (APC) has the power to swing decisions from the Supreme Courts in their favour.
This was following the victory of most governorship candidates of the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Supreme Court in the past two weeks.
The video, in which Mama Taraba made her statement in Hausa, was interpreted to mean that she was bragging about the APC’s power at the centre, which will eventually help the party members with cases in the Courts of Appeal win at the Supreme Court, was contrary to what she actually said.
Naij.com’s in house interpreter noted that although she was livid about the judgment swinging in a particular direction, Al-Hassan told her listeners that she leaves the final judgment to God, whether they win at the Supreme Court or not.
She said: “Musodiq or what’s his name? He listed 17 Court of Appeal judgments and said one party that had issues in the primaries would be favoured with the ruling,” adding that whether they won at the judiciary or not, God has the final say.
