President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, February 5, Friday, embarked on a five day vacation. Before his trip the president had a very busy week, from his 2 day visit to Ogun state where he inaugurated key projects in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the creation of the state. He also met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo after he had held a closed-door meeting with the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, at his palace in Ijebu-Ode.

1. He opened an escrow account to domicile the money received from treasury looters
Mallam Garba Shehu, the special assistant to the president on media and publicity, on Wednesday, February 3, announced that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has opened an Escrow Account into which funds recovered from those suspected to have looted the treasury would be paid.

2. He visited Ogun state
President Muhammadu Buhari was in Ogun state for the 40th anniversary of the creation of the state. The president commissioned some projects in the state during his visit.
The three-day programme which began on Monday, February 1, ended on Wednesday, February 3. One of the highlights of the celebration was the president’s visit to the Alake of Egba’s palace.
3. He addressed the EU Parliament
President Buhari addressed the European Union Parliament plenary session Wednesday, February 3, 2016, in Strasbourg, France.
Addressing the plenary, Buhari noted that former President Goodluck Jonathan did what no Nigerian leader had ever done since in the history of the country.
President Buhari who noted that Nigeria’s problems are poverty, disease and technological backwardness, reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring that the missing Chibok secondary school girls are returned and reunited with their parents.
4. He attended a conference on Syria in London
Buhari arrived in London to attend a conference on the ongoing Syrian crisis. The Supporting Syria & the Region conference is co-hosted by the UK, Germany, Kuwait, Norway and the UN and focuses on how to step up efforts to assist millions of Syrians displaced by the conflict, which started in 2011.
