The police have revealed that they have not received the bench warrant issued by Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court, Lagos for the arrest of former Niger Delta militant, Government Ekpemupolo (alias Tompolo).
This clarification was made by the Olabisi Kolawole, the force public relations officer while fielding questions from reporters on Monday, January 25, saying the police had affected the arrest of Tompolo because they had not been served the court order.
Kolawole said: “We have not received the court order on Tompolo till now and that is why we have not affected his arrest.”

The bench warrant on Tompolo followed charged slammed on him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the ex-director general of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Patrick Akpobolokemi over N34billion fraud, The Punch reports.
Following Tompolo’s failure to appear in court on January 14, 2016, the Justice Buba ordered the arrest of the ex-militants leaders to answer the 30 counts of alleged N34 billion frauds.
The presiding judge said that Tompolo must be produced before the court on February 8 ‘by all means to answer the charges.’

However, EFCC laywer, Festus Keyamo, had earlier told the court that despite the fact that the summons was issued and the EFCC successfully pasted it on the wall of the 1, Chief Agbanu DDPA Extension, Warri, Delta the accused person have been on the run.
Keyama added that this is clear evidence that Tompolo was properly served the notice of summons but intentional failed to appear in court.
