Interesting! Buhari’s Minister Asks Staff To Declare Their Assets
Malam Muhammad Bello, Nigeria’s minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has asked all staff of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), to declare their assets.
Leadership reports that this is in view of the need to ensure that all civil servants comply with the requirements of the law under the provisions of Paragraph 11 of the 5th schedule of the Constitution of Nigeria.

This directive, it was gathered. was made known via a circular signed by the FCTA director of Establishment and Training, S H Mohammed.

The circular informed that due the law mandates all public officers should declare their Assets and Liabilities on assumption of office, at the end of term of office, at interval of four years for public officers on continuous employment of government and at such intervals as may be determined from time to time.
All the members of staff have therefore been directed to fill the assets declaration form and submit the acknowledgement slip to the office of the Permanent Secretary on or before March 31, 2016, adding that those who have earlier declared their assets should submit their acknowledgment slips on the said date.
Only recently, there was a report of Customs officers being asked to declare their assets and given a deadline, a situation which created a lot of panic within the parastatal.
