Kazakh citizen shot dead on street in Turkey: MFA comments on killing
Tengrinews.kz — A Kazakh citizen working as a courier was shot dead on a street in Turkey. Police have detained two suspects, according to Haberler.com.
The crime reportedly took place yesterday at around 4:30 p.m.
“An unidentified person opened fire on Arif Ismailov, a citizen of Kazakhstan who worked as a courier for a private logistics company. Ismailov, who sustained serious injuries, died in hospital,” the outlet reported.
The editors of Tengrinews.kz requested a comment from Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ministry commented on the situation.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan is aware of the incident involving a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan that occurred on March 31 of this year in the Fatih district of Istanbul. At present, the competent authorities of the Republic of Turkey are carrying out the necessary investigative measures.
The Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Istanbul is providing the necessary assistance to the deceased’s relatives. The matter is under control,” the statement said.
Istanbul police first found the suspects’ vehicle and then located the suspects themselves using drones. They are citizens of Georgia and were allegedly trying to flee the country. The motive for the crime has not been reported.
