What spring and summer 2026 will be like in Kazakhstan: what to expect from the weather

Tengrinews.kz – Kazhydromet has presented a seasonal forecast for the warm half of the year — from April to October 2026. Meteorologists predict that temperatures in Kazakhstan will be above normal most of the time, while by the end of summer a precipitation deficit will intensify.
April 2026
Average air temperatures are expected to be about 1°C above normal across most of the country. Near-normal temperatures are forecast in East Kazakhstan, parts of Abai region, and mountainous areas in the south and southeast.

Precipitation is expected to be around normal overall, but:

above normal in the west (West Kazakhstan, Atyrau, Mangystau regions),as well as in the south and southeast (Turkestan, Zhambyl, Almaty regions, Zhetysu, East Kazakhstan, southeast of Abai region).


May 2026
Temperatures will also be about 1°C above normal across most of Kazakhstan. Near-normal conditions are expected in eastern, southeastern, and some central regions.

Precipitation:

around normal in most areas,below normal in northern regions (Kostanay, North Kazakhstan, Akmola), as well as parts of western and central regions.


June 2026
Temperatures will be 1–2°C above normal across most of the country, closer to normal in eastern and southeastern regions.

Precipitation:

generally near normal,below normal in Mangystau, Aktobe, Kyzylorda regions, and parts of Atyrau and central Kazakhstan.


July 2026
Overall temperatures will be near normal, but:above normal by 1–2°C in western regions (West Kazakhstan, Atyrau, Mangystau, Aktobe).

Precipitation will be uneven:

above normal in the south, southeast, east, and central regions,below normal in the west.


August 2026
Temperatures will again be above normal by 1–2°C across most of Kazakhstan.

Precipitation:

mostly below normal,near normal only in отдельных регионах (west, north, and parts of the southeast).


September 2026
Temperatures will be about 1°C above normal across most of the country, with near-normal conditions in parts of Zhambyl, Almaty, Zhetysu, Abai, East Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, Karaganda, Turkestan, Ulytau, and Akmola regions.

Precipitation:mostly below normal,near normal only in some northern, eastern, and partially southern regions.

October 2026
The warm anomaly will persist, with temperatures about 1°C above normal across most of Kazakhstan.

Precipitation:

mostly below normal,near normal in western regions and some southeastern areas.


Overall, 2026 in Kazakhstan is expected to be warmer than usual, with increasingly dry conditions toward the end of summer and into autumn.
