Spring cancelled? Temperatures to drop to –25°C in Kazakhstan

Tengrinews.kz – Kazhydromet meteorologists have presented the weather forecast for March 7, 8 and 9.
Snow, rain and sharp cooling
According to the forecast, ahead of the holiday weekend Kazakhstan will experience unstable weather conditions typical for March. Under the influence of a cyclone and atmospheric fronts, most regions will see precipitation in the form of rain and snow. In the north and northwest, heavy precipitation (rain and snow) is expected at times, while heavy rain is forecast in the south of the country.
Across the country, stronger winds, icy conditions and fog are expected. Blizzards are forecast in the northern regions, while thunderstorms are possible in the south.
What about temperatures
After the significant rise in air temperatures observed in recent days, Arctic cold air will once again spread across the west and northwest of the country toward the end of the forecast period.

"Nighttime air temperatures in the west will drop to –5 to –15°C, and in the northwest and far north to –15 to –25°C. Meanwhile, in the south and east of the country, temperatures will continue to rise, bringing the feeling of spring warmth," meteorologists said.

From March 11, a drop in temperature is also expected in the central and eastern regions of the country.

Meteorologists forecast that March 2026 in Kazakhstan will be warm, with precipitation above normal across most of the country.
Unstable weather is expected: snow and blizzards in the north, and rain and wet snow in the south and west. Overall temperatures will be about 1 degree above the climatic norm, although short-term cold spells are possible.
