Tengrinews.kz – The head of state received the chairman of the board of JSC NC “KazMunayGas” Askhat Khassenov, according to the message of Akorda.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev heard a report on the results of the national company's activities in 2024. Askhat Khassenov reported, the volume of oil and condensate production in the KMG group of companies amounted to 23.8 million tons, exceeding the 2023 figure by 1.3%. To maintain the production level, a technological challenge program is being implemented, which provides for the use of enhanced oil recovery methods with a differentiated approach to each field.
"The President was informed that the design stage of the Kalamkas-Sea project worth $6.4 billion has begun. Also in 2024, drilling began at the Torgai Paleozoic, Karaton Podsolevaya, Karazhar and Taisoigan wells, the resources of which exceed 800 million tons in oil equivalent," Akorda said in a statement.
The head of state was informed that the volume of oil transportation in 2024 exceeded the 2023 figure by 4% and amounted to 83.6 million tons.
Domestic oil refineries processed 17.44 million tons of oil last year. To provide the domestic market, measures have been taken to increase the production of light oil products by 370 thousand tons compared to 2023.
"As the Chairman of the Board of JSC NC ‘KazMunayGas’ said, a project to increase bitumen production to 750 thousand tons per year at CASPI BITUM LLP is at the implementation stage. Early construction work has begun on a $7.4 billion polyethylene production plant project, with a capacity of 1 million 250 thousand tons of products per year.
A desalination plant is being built in the Mangistau region to provide high-quality drinking water to residents of the city of Zhanaozen, and the construction of a hybrid power plant with a capacity of 247 MW has also begun," the press service of Akorda said in a statement.
In addition, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was provided with information on the implementation of social projects in the regions of the country.
