Tengrinews.kz - Kazhydromet forecasters have warned residents of Astana, Almaty, and nine other cities.
"On December 25, 2024, unfavorable meteorological conditions for air pollution are expected in the cities of Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, Aktau, Aktobe, Atyrau, Pavlodar, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semey, Ridder, and at night in the city of Kostanay," the message says.
Unfavorable meteorological conditions are a combination of short-term weather factors (calm, weak winds, fog, inversion) that contribute to the accumulation of harmful (polluting) substances in the near-surface layer of the atmosphere.
Earlier, forecasters clarified the weather forecast for winter 2024/2025 in Kazakhstan. It is noted that in general, the winter temperature regime is expected to be within the climatic norm with precipitation exceeding the long-term norm. However, periods with cessation of precipitation and abnormally low air temperatures are not excluded.
