Tengrinews.kz - Classes for elementary school students in some schools of the Altai city and Altai district in the East Kazakhstan region have been switched to a distance learning format.
According to the regional education department, the reason for this change is the shift in weather conditions.
"Due to the drop in temperature from -28 to -29 degrees, classes for the first and second shifts are being transferred to distance learning for grades 0-4 in schools in the city of Altai, including MPI 'Mikhail Biketov Secondary School,' MPI 'Lesnoprystanskaya Secondary School,' MPI 'Putintsevskaya Secondary School,' MPI 'Zubovskaya Secondary School,' MPI 'Mayakskaya Secondary School,' MPI 'Solovyevskaya Secondary School,' and MPI 'Novokrestianskaya Primary School,'" the message states.
It is also explained that due to ongoing repairs to the water supply system in the village of Verkh-Uba in the Shemonaikhinsky district, students from grades 0-11 at the local school will switch to distance learning.
The kindergarten at the secondary school in the village of Oktyabrskoye is also not accepting children due to the replacement of electrical equipment in the building. Other educational institutions are operating as usual, the department added.
Earlier, Kazhydromet reported that snow and ground blizzards are expected in the East Kazakhstan region on Friday. The wind will be southeast to south at 9-14 m/s, with gusts reaching 15-20 m/s in the southeastern part of the region.
