Tengrinews.kz - Authorities in Astana have shut down two illegal meat processing facilities operating without proper permits and in unsanitary conditions.
According to officials, an entrepreneur had rented premises to run an underground slaughterhouse.
"Police officers, together with the NSC, halted illegal meat processing operations conducted without proper documentation and in violation of hygiene standards. It was discovered that the entrepreneur rented the facility for an underground slaughterhouse, employing six workers illegally, who received daily wages. The raw materials included meat of questionable origin acquired without any documents. The finished products were then distributed to various regions of Kazakhstan," the Astana Police Department stated.
In another case, police uncovered illegal meat sales organized by a local resident in the yard of his own home. Authorities noted that the products lacked proper documentation and veterinary stamps.
"An examination has been ordered to verify the quality of the confiscated meat. Criminal proceedings have been launched, and administrative protocols have been issued against the violators. The Astana Police Department reminds citizens that meat products sold without veterinary control pose serious health risks," officials added.
Earlier, authorities in the Turkestan region shut down three major underground factories producing counterfeit vodka.
