Tengrinews.kz - It has become known what events will take place in Almaty on December 16, Independence Day.
The details were given by the press service of the akimat (local government administration).
In Almaty, on December 16, flowers will be laid at the Independence Monument on the Republic Square. The ceremony will be attended by representatives of the Council of Veterans and the city akimat, public organizations, ethnocultural associations, and participants in the December 1986 events.
On December 17, as part of the 38th anniversary of the December 1986 events, a wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the "Tauelsizdik tany" monument. Participants of the December uprising, representatives of the city's akimat, and youth organizations will take part in the ceremony. Those gathered will observe a minute of silence in memory of the victims. Representatives of the clergy will read a memorial prayer.
Festive events will also be held in all districts of the city.
In Almaly District on December 13, concerts dedicated to the December events will be held in the Ten Qogam center of the Almaly district and in the Almaty Music College named after Tchaikovsky.
In Bostandyq District on December 15 at 4 PM in the Community Center of the district, there will be a round table "Tauelsizdik - mangilik eldin tugyry." On December 16 at 6 PM in the Mega Alma-Ata shopping center, there will be a performance of the academic state-folklore-ethnographic orchestra "Otyrar sazy" named after Nurgisa Tlendiev.
In Alatau District, on December 12 at 2 PM, a concert will be held in honor of Independence Day at the Center for Innovative Creativity (Nurkent, 14a).
In Medeu District, on December 13 at 11:30 AM, a meeting on the topic "Babalarym ansagan - Tauelsizdik" will be held at the school-lyceum №131 named after Momyshuly.
In Turksib District, on December 13, a festive concert for pensioners will be held at the center for the active longevity of the district. On December 14, a round table "Ardagerlerdi ardaktaiyk!" will be held in the community center of the district with participants of the December events and the youth of the district.
In Nauryzbai District, on December 13 at 11 AM, a concert program "Tugyry bilk - tauelsizdik" will be held at the Center for Innovative Creativity (microdistrict Shugyla, 347/4).
In Auezov District on December 13 at 11 AM, there will be a festive concert "Tauelsizdik tynysyn, bugingi dauletin, ertengi yrysyn" in the assembly hall of the Almaty Technological College, and in the community center of Auezov District there will be a flash mob dedicated to Independence Day.
In Zhetysu District on December 13 at 2 PM there will be a festive concert "Tauelsizdik - Tugyrym" in the Cultural Center together with school №193.
In all educational institutions of the city during the month there will be open lessons, conferences, and meetings dedicated to the December events.
December 16 is an official non-working day in Kazakhstan. Until 2022, December 17 was also considered a day off, but in September 2022, amendments were made to the Law "On Holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan". Among the changes are the return of Republic Day on October 25, the cancellation of the day off on First President's Day on December 1, and the reduction of Independence Day celebrations to one day, December 16.
In 2024, December 16 falls on a Monday, so residents of the country will be able to enjoy a long weekend.
Schedule of days off:
December 14, Saturday: a working day for those who work a six-day week, and a day off for those who have a five-day week;
December 15, Sunday: a regular day off;
December 16, Monday: Independence Day (a day off for everyone)
