Tengrinews.kz – The National Security Committee Border Service recorded 1,313 attempts to illegally cross the state border in November, citing the National Security Committee (NSC) press service.
According to the agency, 5 785 violators of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the border area were detained, including: for violating the border - 17 foreign citizens; for attempting to violate the border - 19 foreign citizens.
"A total of 1 313 cases of illegal movement across the state border were prevented, including: narcotics - 26 cases; weapons and ammunition - 62 cases (30 blank-firing weapons, 1 firearm, 1 pneumatic weapon, 43 bladed weapons, 136 ammunition, 18 stun guns); religious literature - 35 cases (1 215 copies); fuel and lubricants - 414 cases (more than 55 000 liters) worth over 50 million tenge; consumer goods - 644 cases worth over 3.5 billion tenge; currency - 132 cases worth over 3 billion tenge," the report says.
It is noted that seven cases of poaching in the Caspian Sea were stopped.
"Also confiscated: swimming equipment - 1 unit; poaching gear - 44.3 kilometers of nets; sturgeon fish - 206 pieces (1,633 kilograms); ordinary fish - 46 pieces (30 kilograms); seals - 28 pieces; the amount of damage prevented amounted to about 620 million tenge," the National Security Committee reported.
Materials on these facts have been sent to law enforcement and judicial bodies to hold the violators accountable. No restrictive measures have been introduced at the state border, all checkpoints are operating normally.
Earlier, the National Security Committee, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, under the coordination of the Almaty Region Prosecutor's Office, stopped the activities of 10 supporters of radical religious ideology in the penal institutions of the Almaty, Kostanay and Zhetysu regions. According to preliminary data, one of the defendants was preparing a terrorist attack while in prison, and the others were participating in the propaganda of terrorism and recruiting people for the purpose of organizing terrorist activities.
