Tengrinews.kz - The Ministry of Agriculture has announced a quarantine in the village of Ulken Aksu in the Almaty region due to anthrax.
"On September 5, the Republican Veterinary Laboratory received the results of bacteriological tests confirming the presence of anthrax in samples from two heads of cattle. A ban on the import and export of live animals and livestock products has been introduced in the village of Ulken Aksu," the statement said.
The Territorial Veterinary Inspectorate, in collaboration with veterinary doctors from the Ministry of Agriculture, is conducting house-to-house inspections of animals, vaccination, and explanatory work with animal owners. An epizootic response team from the ministry is being deployed to the village to carry out eradication measures, including disinfection. The necessary staff and specialized equipment are available.
Recall, according to official information, on September 1st, four suspected cases of anthrax were identified in the village of Ulken Aksu in Almaty Region. The preliminary cause of the infection was contact with an infected animal during slaughter, which was conducted without veterinary supervision.
