Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev awarded the medalists of the 33rd Summer Olympic Games in Paris.
The President awarded state honors to athletes and coaches who represented the country at the Paris Olympics. The victory of Olympic champion Yeldos Smetov was especially recognized.
"In the early days of the competition, he won the first gold Olympic medal in the history of Kazakh judo, becoming a worthy successor to Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov. Yeldos, before the Olympics, you promised to make every effort for victory, and you did," Tokayev said.

The Head of State highlighted the achievements of the athletes who returned from France with Olympic medals. He particularly singled out gymnast Nariman Kurbanov, who won historic silver for Kazakhstan.
"An historic achievement can also be considered Nariman Kurbanov's silver medal. Demeu Zhadyrayev and Nurbek Oralbay also showed excellent results. Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev won bronze in shooting, for the first time in 28 years. Gusman Kyrgyzbayev and Nazym Kyzaibay also became medalists," the President added.

He also wished success to the Kazakhstani athletes participating in the Paralympic Games.
The Kazakhstan national team secured a total of seven medals at the Paris Olympics. The sole gold medal was won by judoka Yeldos Smetov. Silver medals were awarded to gymnast Nariman Kurbanov, Greco-Roman wrestler Demeu Zhadrayev, and boxer Nurbek Oralbay.
Bronze medals were claimed by shooters Aleksandra Le and Islam Satpayev, as well as boxer Nazym Kyzaibai and judoka Gusman Kyrgyzbayev.
