Kidapawan City – Relieved North Cotabato police director Senior Supt. Alexander Tagum has admitted having allowed the violent dispersal of the protesters as a matter of “judgment call” upon seeing one of his men being pinned down by one of the protesters. Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Ricardo Marquez had already ordered the relief of Tagum pending the result of separate investigations on the violent incident that left at least three protesters dead and more than 100 others, including cops, injured. Also relieved was Supt. John Calinga as Kidapawan police director. Supt. Jose Briones, provincial police operations chief will sit as North Cotabato (also known as Cotabato) police officer-in-charge in concurrent capacity, while Supt. Noel Kinazo, provincial police office deputy chief for administration will replace Calinga.
