A fisherman in Talisay, Cebu tosses his net in the water to catch small fish to sell as well as for food for the family. A University of British Columbia study reveals that as much as 32 billion kilograms of fish catch goes undocumented globally each year. The study is pushing for a re-examination of fisheries data in the Philippines. The same study shows that actual fish catch is at 109 billion kilograms or some 30 percent higher than the 77 billion kilograms of fish caught worldlwide, as reported in 2010 by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UN-FAO).
