Arsenal lock down winger after impressive youth team rise

Arsenal forward Brando Bailey-Joseph has signed his first professional contract with the club, marking a major milestone in his young career.

The 17-year-old put pen to paper on his birthday, the earliest age a player can turn professional, extending his long association with Arsenal which began when he joined the academy at just six years old.

Bailey-Joseph has been one of the standout performers in the youth setup this season, scoring four goals across competitions and impressing with his pace and creativity on the wing.

Speaking after signing his contract at the Sobha Realty Training Centre, the teenager described the moment as a proud achievement but stressed that it is only the beginning.

“I’m very proud of myself and of everyone who has supported me, but I also feel like it’s not done yet,” he said. “There’s still a lot of hard work ahead, and I’m grateful to the club for providing me with this opportunity.”

Bailey-Joseph, who models his game on Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, said his time at Arsenal has shaped both his footballing and personal growth.

“It kind of feels like I’ve been here my whole life,” he added. “It’s like a family away from home. But now that things are getting serious, I’ve started working even harder. The academy gives every player a fair opportunity, and the ex-pros here guide you in the right direction to get the best out of your career.”

Having recently signed a two-year scholarship, Bailey-Joseph has progressed rapidly, earning his first professional deal just months later after a strong start to the campaign.

He also featured in Arsenal’s UEFA Youth League opener against Athletic Club, continuing to build his reputation as one of the club’s most promising young attackers.

Reflecting on his development, he credited the coaching staff for helping refine his game.

“I think my good start is down to hard work and the coaches,” he said. “They’ve guided me into positions I didn’t expect, making sure I stay focused and productive in front of goal.”

Bailey-Joseph’s next target is to cement his place in the under-18 and under-21 sides as he continues his rise through the ranks.

“I just want to stay on the scoresheet as much as possible and get as many games as I can this season,” he said.
