After Huijsen, £40m star is now poised to turn down Arsenal transfer - report
Arsenal could receive another setback during the summer transfer window.
The Gunners were keen on landing Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth earlier this summer, but the centre-back preferred to join Real Madrid instead.
The club are exploring the transfer market for an alternative, and The Athletic recently claimed that Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi is a top transfer target.
However, Guehi is prepared to turn down the Gunners, according to The Sun, amid concerns over his playing time ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Guehi is reluctant to play a deputy role behind William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, who have been undisputed starters in the heart of Arsenal’s defence when fit.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta provided assurances of plenty of playing time to Huijsen, but the proposal did not convince him.
It does not come as a surprise, considering the manager has picked Saliba and Gabriel in the starting line-up in the Premier League unless one or both have been injured.
Hence, it could be difficult to persuade Guehi, who may not want to warm the bench in a World Cup year.
The Palace captain could be available for £40 million with his contract expiring next summer, but he may join another club where he is guaranteed a regular starting role.
Meanwhile, the Gunners could be aware of the defender’s stance, considering they have submitted a six-year contract offer to Ajax wonderkid Jorrel Hato this week.
Arsenal have held a long-term interest in the teenager who can operate as a centre-back or left-back.
They have the upper hand over Chelsea, with negotiations underway with the player and Ajax. The 19-year-old could be signed for a package of around £43 million.
Jurrien Timber could play a significant role in the proposed transfer. Hato considers the Dutchman his ‘role model‘ and has hinted he would like to ‘follow his footsteps‘.
