Tokayev holds expanded meeting with Rwanda president

Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held an expanded-format meeting with Rwandan President Paul Kagame, citing Akorda.
The head of state noted that since Kagame’s last visit to Kazakhstan in 2015, both countries have made significant progress in bilateral relations based on mutual respect and a shared vision of cooperation and sustainable development.
President Tokayev emphasized Kazakhstan’s strong commitment to expanding ties with African states.

“Under your strong and wise leadership, Rwanda has become a model of institutional resilience and promising innovation. The economic growth exceeding 8 percent is impressive - a showcase of successful modernization. In this context, we attach great importance to developing cooperation with your country. Kazakhstan is ready to translate our aspirations into practice through the implementation of mutually beneficial projects. I am confident that the agreements reached during your visit will bring Kazakh-Rwandan relations to a new level,” Tokayev said.

Paul Kagame expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and highly appreciated Kazakhstan’s efforts to develop bilateral cooperation.
He stressed that Rwanda sees significant potential to strengthen partnership with Kazakhstan and is ready to implement joint initiatives that will contribute to the prosperity of both countries and enhance dialogue.

“I am glad to be in Astana again. Kazakhstan has achieved remarkable national development, earning recognition for its constructive position on the world stage. We are pleased to be partners and friends with you and your country,” added the Rwandan president.

According to Akorda, the heads of state identified several priority areas for further cooperation, including trade, investment, transport, agriculture, information technology, e-government, and finance.
Earlier it was reported that during his visit, Paul Kagame would discuss with President Tokayev prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation and that the sides would sign several documents.
In November 2024, within the framework of the World Climate Summit in Baku, Tokayev met with Kagame. The parties discussed prospects for developing bilateral relations in political and trade-economic spheres, as well as cooperation opportunities within international organizations.
Previously, President Tokayev stressed the importance of strengthening a solid and mutually beneficial partnership with Rwanda. President Kagame praised Kazakhstan’s political and socio-economic achievements and expressed interest in expanding cooperation.
