President of Kazakhstan held talks with Viktor Orban
During the conversation, Tokayev warmly recalled his state visit to Budapest last year, during which a number of strategically important agreements were signed.
He noted that the visit was highly productive both in terms of achieving practical agreements and in strengthening mutual understanding between Astana and Budapest.
Highlighting the importance of the upcoming informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Tokayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to constructive dialogue on all priority areas of OTS activity.
The President of Kazakhstan identified trade, economic, and investment cooperation as the top priority in bilateral relations. In 2024, mutual trade reached nearly $200 million, with a 37% increase in trade turnover recorded in the first quarter of this year.
Hungarian investment in Kazakhstan’s economy has exceeded $370 million. The current joint investment portfolio includes 16 projects worth around $700 million in sectors such as engineering, agriculture, and logistics.
Orban thanked President Tokayev for his visit and noted the steady positive momentum in Kazakh-Hungarian relations.
He emphasized that bilateral cooperation has been developing rapidly in recent years, particularly in the economic sphere, and expressed appreciation for Kazakhstan’s full support in organizing and hosting the OTS summit.
The meeting also reviewed the progress on agreements reached during last year's high-level talks, including joint projects in energy, trade, and investment. The two leaders also exchanged views on current international issues.
