Gentlemen
Another busy week at San Roque with the usual Midweek competitions, a Mixed InterClub and an AmAm competition at the weekend. The weather at San Roque remains warm and sunny which is not quite the same as those for those that are in Northern Europe. The course is looking in splendid condition and has received many compliments from guests that have recently played Interclub matches. Well done and thanks to Borja and his green-keeping staff.
Men’s Competition Tuesday November 26th
A slightly smaller field participating in the Tuesday competition but the scores were by no means small. Two of our Junior members taking the honours but not the prizes with Javier and Eduardo Ybarra Gallagher finishing 1st and 3rd with 44 and 40 points respectively. The slightly more senior members were left to pick up the prizes with Jim Jenet and Jeremy Sibbons both returning to form with 40 and 39 points. Well played guys!

MEN’S Competition Thursday November 28th
It seemed that today was an excellent day for scoring for the majority of the field. More about the minority later. In a field of 31 players, 24 finished with 30 points or better and 40 points would only get you 4th place! A very good score of 42 points by Andy Rogers was enough by a single point to beat the now in-form Jeremy Sibbons. The strongest player in the field was the Captain with a bad day at the office!!

MIXED INTERCLUB Match HOME v La Cañada Friday November 29th
The return fixture of the Annual Mixed Interclub match versus La Cañada. A hotly contested event to one of our closest neighbours with the Away match played on Sunday November 17. Things were not looking good at La Cañada and with home advantage their local knowledge in playing the course proved very advantageous. The away result was 17.5 – 6.5 in favour of La Cañada. It would be a fantastic achievement to turn this around. Both teams arrived last Friday with an expectation for one team and hope for another. With a final result on the day of 17 – 7 in favour of San Roque the team fell one point short of overall victory. The real winner on the day was golf itself with the fun and comradery that was enjoyed by all. Congratulations to La Cañada but San Roque will be back next year!!
MEMBERS AmAm Competition
Firstly, for those that were not aware, Past Captain Chis Harris took a trip on and off the course even before play started. Whilst warming up he took a fall on the concrete approach to the driving range cut and banged his head. His trip off the course was to repair the damage and a scan which showed no major injuries. Needless to say he received many words of wisdom, some encouraging, and some of how his appearance will be improved. The good news is he is home safe and sound with some bruising, possibly not of his pride before a……
With the competition already under way play continued with the remaining 63 players. The early morning was chilly, relatively, but soon warmed to a very pleasant day with shorts and short sleeved shirts for the rest of the day. Scoring was also hot with three teams finishing second on the same score only to be divided by handicap.
