What will be the weather in Astana and Almaty on New Year

Tengrinews.kz – Kazhydromet told what the weather will be like in Astana and Almaty during the holidays.
December 31
In response to the editorial request, Kazhydromet reported that on December 31, cloudiness is expected in Almaty, with occasional precipitation (sleet). Southwest wind up to 2-7 m/s. Temperature: -1 to -3°C at night, +2 to +4°C during the day.
In Astana, variable cloudiness is expected, with occasional light snow and fog. Southeast wind changing to southwest 3-8 m/s. Temperature: -11 to -13°C at night, -6 to -8°C during the day.

"This precipitation is due to the passage of frontal sections. But, most likely, the precipitation will be insignificant, sleet changing to normal snow," the Almaty branch of Kazhydromet reported.

Almaty: partly cloudy, snow at night. Icy roads are expected during the day. Southwest wind 2-7 m/s. Temperature: -3 to -5°C at night, +1 to +3°C during the day.
Astana: partly cloudy, snow and ground blizzard during the day. Southwest wind 9-14, gusts of 15-20 m/s during the day. Temperature: -8 to -10°C at night, -4 to -6°C during the day.

Almaty: partly cloudy and snow. Fog at night and in the morning, icy roads. Southwest wind. Temperature: -4 to -6°C at night, 0 to +2°C during the day.
Astana: partly cloudy, occasional snow, blizzard. Southwest wind 9-14, gusts 15-20 m/s. Temperature: -4 to -6°C at night, -2 to -4°C during the day.

"The weather in most of the republic will be formed by a cyclone from the Scandinavian Peninsula, with which unstable weather is expected: snow, blizzards are predicted in the northwest, north, center and east of the country, strong gusty winds on January 1-2, precipitation (rain, snow), ice in the west, southwest, in the southern, southeastern regions of the republic. On December 31, heavy precipitation (rain, snow) is predicted in the mountainous regions of the south, southeast of the country. Strong winds and fog are expected in Kazakhstan. An increase in air temperature is expected in most of the country: at night in the west up to 5 below zero - 5 above zero, during the day - up to 3 below zero - 10 above zero, in the northwest, north, center, east at night up to 2-13 below zero, during the day up to 7 below zero - 2 above zero, in the east at night and during the day up to 0-8 below zero, in the south, southeast there are no sharp changes in "No change in temperature is expected," Kazhydromet reported earlier.

Earlier, forecasters published an advisory weather forecast for the winter of 2024/2025, according to which residents of Kazakhstan can expect "temperature swings" with sharp changes and difficult weather conditions.
