'Scrubs' Cast Heads to PaleyFest LA, John C. McGinley Shares Whether Dr. Cox Will Return Next Season
The cast of Scrubs is at PaleyFest!
Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke were among the stars to attend the 2026 PaleyFest LA at Dolby Theatre on Saturday (April 11) in Hollywood, Calif.
They were joined by co-stars Christa Miller, Neil Flynn, Judy Reyes, John C. McGinley, and Vanessa Bayer, plus creator Bill Lawrence and showrunner Aseem Batra.
Scrubs recently returned for its tenth season, a revival of the series that originally ran from 2001 to 2010 and features the entire returning original cast. So far, there were just nine episodes ordered for the new season, but it seems likely that it will continue. The season finale airs on April 15.

With the reveal that Dr. Cox is sick with an autoimmune disease just as J.D. is starting to come into his own as the new Chief of Medicine, some fans were worried that John C. McGinley might not be back for another season.
However, that seems unlikely. He chatted with Variety about pulling double-duty on Bill Lawrence’s shows Scrubs and Rooster (which did just get renewed) and said that if Scrubs continues, he’s hoping the scheduling will let him do a bit more of the medical dramedy.
“Billy made it really clear when he was talking to me about Rooster that it would be a conflict with Scrubs,” John told the outlet. “And I said, whatever you feel logistically can work, count me in. I don’t want to put the cart before the horse, but I think, God willing, for Season 2 on both of them, schedules will line up so that Dr. Cox can be around Scrubs quite a bit more.”
