Liveblog: Noah Dobson leaves game for Canadiens
With Cole Caufield now at 50 goals and Juraj Slafkovsky at 30, will the Canadiens (47-22-10) keep the pedal to the metal against the Columbus Blue Jackets (39-28-12) in their final home game of the regular season?
Puck drop at the Bell Centre at 7 p.m. (CityTV, TVA Sports, Sportsnet, TSN Radio 690, 98.5 FM).
Here’s what you need to know:
- The Habs have three games left in their regular season. They play the New York Islanders tomorrow and the Philadephia Flyers on Tuesday, both on the road.
- Jakub Dobes is expected to start in goal once again. He made 17 saves in Thursday’s 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
- No lineup changes: Brendan Gallagher, Zachary Bolduc, Kaiden Guhle remain out.
- Elliotte Friedman is reporting top prospect Michael Hage will not sign with the Canadiens and return to college in the fall. His NCAA season came to an end on Thursday.
- The big milestone the team is still chasing: 100 points for captain Nick Suzuki. He’s at 98.

First Period: Jackets show desperation
Just 1:13 into the game, Boone Jenner pounced on the rebound in front of Jakub Dobes. 1-0 Blue Jackets
At 5:42 of the first, the Blue Jackets added to their lead with Charlie Coyle successfully driving the net. 2-0 Blue Jackets
The Canadiens cut into the Columbus lead when Jake Evans sent a cross-ice pass to Josh Anderson for his 14th on the season. With an assist Lane Hutson is two away from tying Larry Robinson team record for a defenceman in a season. 2-1 Blue Jackets
Second Period: Jackets keep pushing
The Blue Jackets regained their two-goal lead at 1:22 of the second period. Kirill Marchenko used Noah Dobson as a screen to beat Dobes. 3-1 Blue Jackets
Oliver Kapanen was sent to the box for hooking, but coach Martin St. Louis showed displeasure with Xhekaj’s defensive work on the play. The coach talked to his rearguard on the bench afterwards.
After successfully killing the Kapanen penalty, the Habs coughed up the puck to Sean Monahan for the fourth Columbus goal of the game. Dobes allowed four goals for the first time since Mar. 3. 4-1 Blue Jackets
Defenceman Noah Dobson went to the dressing room after blocking a shot. The team announced during the intermission he would not return.
