Insider hints at 'complicated' secrets and mysterious gaps from Melania Trump's NYC years

Author and Trump biographer Michael Wolff said that Melania Trump's statements this week revealed more questions about how she entered the United States and her early days in New York City.

During a podcast conversation with co-host Joanna Coles, Wolff described how the first lady has threatened to file a $1 billion defamation lawsuit against him, which prompted the author to sue her, The Daily Beast reported. Although she has one of the most public roles, she has continued to keep her story of how she came to America private.

"This is the first time a first lady would have sued a journalist or media organizations who are saying things about her," Wolff said. "I don’t think there’s any instance of a president or the first lady suing the media."

"From the beginning, she has fiercely tried to protect and control her version of her life after she came to New York in the 1990s," Wolff said.

Many specifics of Melania's early days in New York City have remained under wraps. And she has often turned to courts to "shut down questions about her life."

"How did she come here? Who brought her here? Under what legal auspices? How did she work here?" Wolff asked. "Many, many, many details which are, you know, might be, that might have answers that she does not want the public to know and that might be kind of complicated for her."
