The DataMB analysis reveals that Baleba has played with far less risk, particularly in terms of progressive and key passes.

There has been a sharp decline in his forward distribution, limiting his impact in advanced areas.

On the flip side, his defensive contributions have improved, with the midfielder showing greater efficiency in winning back possession.

Part of his attacking regression can also be attributed to Brighton’s overall struggles this season.

Despite the dip, Baleba remains a midfielder of immense potential with a remarkably high ceiling.

If Brighton genuinely lower their asking price, United could be tempted to reignite their interest and push for a deal.

Spending £70-£80 million on a player coming off an inconsistent season would carry an element of risk. However, it could prove a calculated gamble, given Baleba’s long-term upside and potential resale value.
