Germany Deports Two Convicted Afghan Citizens to Kabul
German authorities have deported two Afghan citizens convicted of crimes, transferring them from Hamburg to Kabul in recent days.
According to the German news agency DPA, the individuals were released from prison and flown to Kabul via regular flights through Istanbul.
The two were convicted of offenses including attacks on law enforcement officers, armed robbery, and threats, officials said.
German authorities noted that the deportation proceeded despite escalating military tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan, asserting that there was no reason to change their deportation policy.
Previously, 20 other Afghan nationals labeled as “criminals” by German officials were sent to Kabul on a charter flight from Leipzig, marking another similar repatriation effort.
The Federal Ministry of the Interior emphasized that this was the first direct deportation flight to Kabul conducted without intermediaries, based on a direct agreement with the Taliban authorities.
Deportation of Afghan citizens from European countries has been a subject of debate due to Afghanistan’s ongoing instability and the risks posed by regional conflicts, including tensions along the Pakistan border.
The recent deportations underline Germany’s continued enforcement of criminal repatriation policies, even amid complex regional security challenges, raising questions about the safety and reintegration of returned citizens.
