Ayatollah Khamenei escaped certain death by seconds because ‘he had to do something in his garden’
Mojtaba Khamenei escaped the missile strike that obliterated his family because he had the urge to check out his garden, leaked audio claims.
Iran’s new supreme leader told his wife, son and parents he was goingoutside ‘to do something’ moments before Blue Sparrow ballistic missiles struck his bunker as they gathered for Ramadan aat 9am on February 28.
A leaked recording from Mazaher Hosseini, head of protocol for the now dead Ali Khamenei’s office provided the first detailed account of the strike that triggered the Iran war.
Mr Hosseini says in the recording, released to the Telegraph: ‘God’s will was that Mojtaba had to go out to the yard to do something and then return.
‘He was outside and was heading upstairs when they struck the building with a missile. His wife, Ms Haddad, was martyred instantly.’

Mr Hosseini added Mojtaba only suffered ‘a minor injury to his leg’.
According to Hosseini, the strikes appeared to have tried to wipe out the entire Khamenei family.
‘These devils had considered several locations within the office complex to strike – one of them was the place of the supreme leader,’ he said.
‘They hit that location with three missiles.’
It came after Trump admitted he didn’t know if Khamenei was alive or not amid reports he was flown to Russia for life-saving leg surgery.
The US President said ‘We don’t know … if he’s dead or not. I will say that nobody has seen him, which is unusual.
‘A lot of people are saying that he’s badly disfigured. They’re saying that he lost his leg … and he’s been hurt very badly. Other people are saying he’s dead.’
Despite US reports that he was killed in the strike, Mojtaba Khamenei recently issued a bloodthirsty statement demanding revenge on the US and its allies.
Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida reported that the new Ayatollah had been pulled out of the bunker strike that killed his wife, mother, father and son and snuck him out of Iran for a top secret surgery.
The secret evacuation saw the new, but badly injured, Iranian leader being flown to Moscow on a Russian military aircraft.
Khamenei then allegedly received a ‘successful’ operation in one of Vladimir Putin’s presidential palaces.
Reports range from a fractured foot and minor lacerations to his face, to the loss of a leg or even Khamenei being placed in a coma.
Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi wrote: ‘The leader of the revolution is in good health and is fully managing the situation.’
Mojtaba Khamenei was selected to replace his father, but he has still not made a public appearance, and did not appear on camera to issue his first message of vengeance on Thursday.
Instead, state media published a written statement, saying: ‘I assure everyone that we will not refrain from avenging the blood of your martyrs.’
