'The Last of Us' Season 3 Cast Adds Patrick Wilson as Abby's Dad, Jason Ritter as a Soldier, & Ups 3 to Series Regulars
The Last of Us Season 3 is getting some new cast members, and more screen time for some Season 2 stars as well!
First, two new cast members have joined the smash-hit HBO series: Jason Ritter and Patrick Wilson.
Jason is set to play a soldier from the Washington Liberation Front named Hanley.
Patrick will be taking on the role of Abby’s dad. Abby’s dad, Jerry Anderson, is actually a central piece of the story in The Last of Us…and we’ve seen the character on screen before.

Abby’s dad is the surgeon who Joel (Pedro Pascal) finds operating on Ellie in Season 1. You’ll remember, Ellie is immune from the Cordyceps infection, and the surgery was intended to find a cure using her immunity. Joel kills him to save Ellie, which leads to Abby hunting Joel down and Ellie to hold a grudge against him.
Joel dies in Season 2 at the hands of Abby, kickstarting the events for the remainder of the season that leads Ellie to hunt down Abby and her team.
While we really don’t have confirmation about the focus for Season 3, it is said to focus on Abby (Kaitlyn Dever).
We also have confirmation from Deadline that Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, and Spencer Lord have been upped to series regulars as Mel, Nora and Owen, respectively.
Deadline also noted that this could be the final season of the series, though that has not been confirmed by HBO.
