Oprah Winfrey Explains Why She & Gayle King Were Walking 'Like They're 90' at Paris Fashion Week

Oprah Winfrey is responding to the viral video of herself and Gayle King at Paris Fashion Week.

Earlier this month, the BFFs stepped out for the Chloé Womenswear Fall/Winter 2026-2027 Fashion Show and as they arrived at the show, a video went viral of the two ladies appearing to struggle to walk.

Many people were quick to comment on the video, claiming that Oprah, 72, and Gayle, 71, looked “disoriented, unsteady, stiff,” while also saying that they appeared a lot older.

After the video made headlines, Oprah explained why it looked like she and Gayle were “90.”

Keep reading to find out more…“On the internet … you know, people drag you on the internet,” Oprah told the audience during a recent event, as seen in a video shared on Instagram. “They were dragging me and Gayle, because [they were like], ‘Look at them. They’re walking like they’re 90 years old.’”

The media mogul went on to say that as she walking into the venue, her stylist had just handed her a pair of Chloé sunglasses to wear.

“Now, I wear glasses, or I wear contacts,” Oprah explained. “So, those were not prescription glasses. So, I didn’t know where I was walking. I could not see. So everybody who said, ‘You’re walking like you’re 90,’ I could not see. I said to security, ‘I can’t see. Tell me where we’re walking; I can’t see.’”

As for Gayle, Oprah said that she has “two broken toes.”

“The reason we look like we’re 90 is I couldn’t see, and Gayle’s got two broken toes!” Oprah said with a laugh. “So, ya’ll can clear that up. So funny. But it was fun! I couldn’t see, but I looked cute.”

In a recent interview, Oprah spoke candidly about using a weight loss drug.
