Formally according the status to Madurai airport, Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu says the move will also help create more jobs and greatly boost hospitality, MSME, and agricultural sectors in the district; he also inaugurates new air traffic control tower set up at cost of ₹94 crore
