Idaho Ski Area Closing Three Weeks Earlier Than Normal
Idaho's Pebble Creek Ski Area has officially ended its 2025/26 ski season.
Pebble Creek closed for the winter on March 12, 2026, which was "about three weeks earlier than typical," according to a social media post from the resort.
Despite the earlier-than-expected closure, Pebble Creek celebrated the milestones it did reach this year. The mountain remained open for 49 days this season and served its Idaho community well, employing 122 people and teaching 1,116 individuals in ski and snowboard lessons. Their closing post also noted that they used 2,500 gallons of diesel to groom their slopes nightly and pumped 2.6 million gallons of water for snow making. Apparently, they also turned 4,150 pounds of potatoes into French fries... only in Idaho!
Considering Pebble Creek only got 54" of snow throughout their winter season, it appears the ski area still made the absolute most of the season, and their efforts were commendable. As ski areas struggle across the country with low snow, reflecting on the efforts of mountain ops and skiers to keep showing up and supporting the mountain seems to be the name of the game.

Located just outside Pocatello, Idaho, the ski area opened for the season in a limited capacity on January 5, 2026.
More snowfall allowed Pebble Creek to open their upper mountain on January 9; however, just a month later, a lack of moisture caused the mountain to limit operations again. A few Hail Mary storms throughout January, February, and even the beginning of March (Pebble Creek got 12" overnight last week!) helped to keep lifts spinning as often as possible for as long as possible.
Pebble Creek will not increase season pass prices for next year. Passes went on sale for the 2026/26 season on March 1. Pebble Creek will also join the Indy Pass for next season.
