Trump Claims US Airstrikes Destroyed Iranian Military Targets on Kharg Island
Donald Trump said the United States carried out one of the most powerful airstrikes in the Middle East, claiming Iranian military targets on Kharg Island were completely destroyed.
In a message on X, Trump said the operation was conducted by the United States Central Command under his direct order. He claimed all military targets on the island were eliminated during the strike.
Trump added that although US weapons are among the most powerful in the world, he deliberately avoided targeting the island’s oil infrastructure for ethical reasons. However, he warned that the decision could change if Iran disrupts shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian officials have previously denied reports that Kharg Island was destroyed. The island, located about 38 kilometers off the coast of Bushehr province, is considered one of Iran’s most important energy hubs due to its major oil export terminals.
The conflict between the United States and Iran has intensified in recent weeks, with both sides exchanging military strikes and warnings.
According to reports, Iranian attacks also targeted US military assets in the region, including a strike that damaged five US refueling aircraft at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.
Security incidents have also spread to Iraq, where rockets recently struck the United States Embassy Baghdad compound, highlighting the growing regional fallout of the confrontation.
The latest developments underscore the risk of a wider conflict in the Middle East as military exchanges between the United States, Iran and their regional allies continue to escalate.
