Timothée Chalamet Could Break an Incredible Record at the Oscars

The 98th Academy Awards are less than a week away, and Hollywood star Timothée Chalamet could be just days away from breaking a long-standing Oscars record.

Chalamet is currently the frontrunner in Best Actor according to several experts' predictions, but that may not be his only award of the night. If Marty Supreme pulls off a surprise Best Picture win, Chalamet could break records as the first actor to also win a producing award in the same night (via VegasInsider)

Chalamet Is Also Credited as a Producer for Marty Supreme

Marty Supreme marked Chalamet's third outing as a film producer, following up his work on 2022's Bones and All and 2024's A Complete Unknown. He reportedly financed much of the film's marketing campaign out of his own pocket, and he's been extremely vocal about the personal effort that went into this project.

The Oscar for Best Picture is always given to the producers of the winning film, so Chalamet could technically take home two awards on Sunday night if Marty Supreme performs well.

This would make him the first male performer to win acting and producing Oscars on the same night. The feat has already been accomplished by Frances McDormand in 2021, when she won Best Actress and Nomadland won Best Picture.

Theoretically, Emma Stone could also accomplish this feat on Sunday night, as she's nominated for Best Actress and also credited as a producer on Bugonia. This is extremely unlikely, however; Jessie Buckley is almost certainly winning Best Actress, and Bugonia doesn't stand much of a chance at Best Picture.

'Marty Supreme's Best Picture Chances Don't Look Great

Unfortunately, the odds of Marty Supreme taking home Best Picture are looking increasingly low. The category seems to be a battle between Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another and Ryan Coogler's Sinners, the latter of which broke the record for the most nominations ever at the Oscars.

Thankfully, Chalamet's odds in Best Actor are much higher. It's looking like a two-horse race between Chalamet and Michael B. Jordan, who's experiencing a surge in momentum following his unexpected SAG Awards victory.
