Cyprus air links with Europe restored as major airlines resume flights
Larnaca and Paphos airports see 138 flights scheduled for Monday
Hermes Airports on Monday announced that Cyprus’ air connectivity with Europe has been restored, following the resumption of several flights that had been temporarily suspended in recent weeks.
The airport operator said that a number of routes that had been interrupted due to the situation in the Middle East have resumed operations in recent days, “strengthening connections from the country’s two international airports”.
According to the announcement, airlines belonging to the Lufthansa Group, including Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Edelweiss Air and Eurowings, have resumed flights to and from the airports of Larnaca International Airport and Paphos International Airport.
Flights have also restarted by British Airways, easyJet and Transavia, further boosting connectivity between Cyprus and European destinations.
In addition, Emirates resumed its route between Dubai and Larnaca on Saturday, operating daily flights between the two destinations.
Hermes Airports said that a total of 102 flights are scheduled to take place at Larnaca airport on March 9, according to the latest planning by airlines.
At the same time, 36 flights are scheduled to operate at Paphos airport on the same day, reflecting the gradual normalisation of flight activity.
The restored connectivity means that Larnaca airport now has direct connections with a wide range of European and regional destinations.
Direct flights from Larnaca currently connect Cyprus with the United Kingdom through several airlines, including Wizz Air, British Airways and easyJet.
Connections with Greece are served by Aegean, Sky Express, Cyprus Airways and Wizz Air.
Flights to Poland operate with Lot and Wizz Air, while routes to Germany are served by easyJet, Eurowings and Lufthansa.
Air services also link Larnaca with the Netherlands through easyJet and Transavia, and with Austria via Ryanair and Austrian Airlines.
Other destinations connected from Larnaca include Serbia through Air Serbia and Wizz Air, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary, all served by Wizz Air.
Additional routes connect the airport with Egypt via Egypt Air, Italy via Wizz Air and Cyprus Airways, and France via Cyprus Airways.
Larnaca also maintains air links with Belgium through Aegean and with Switzerland via easyJet and Edelweiss.
Further connections operate to Armenia through Wizz Air and FLYONE, as well as Spain, Slovakia and the Czech Republic through Wizz Air.
Flights also connect Larnaca with Georgia through Georgian Airlines and Wizz Air, Latvia through Air Baltic, and Moldova and Lithuania through Wizz Air.
Additional regional routes operate between Larnaca and Lebanon through Middle East Airlines, and Jordan through Royal Jordanian.
Northern European destinations served from Larnaca include Denmark through SAS, Norway through Norwegian, Finland through Sunclass Airlines and Sweden through Sunclass Airlines.
Connections also operate with North Macedonia through Wizz Air.
At Paphos International Airport, direct connections currently link Cyprus with the United Kingdom through Jet2, Ryanair, British Airways and easyJet.
The operator added that flights from Paphos also connect with Greece through Ryanair.
Additional routes from the airport operate to Poland through Ryanair and Wizz Air, and to Germany through Ryanair.
Other destinations served from Paphos include Austria, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Romania, Latvia, Hungary, the Netherlands, Croatia, Italy, Ireland and France, all operated by Ryanair.
Hermes Airports also clarified that some flights remain cancelled, specifically those to and from Israel, as well as routes to and from Qatar, Bahrain and Lebanon.
