The upper of the 997, complete with suede overlays, has the soft and inviting look of similar New Balance models, such as the 574. But, as the saying goes, it’s what’s on the inside that counts. The 997 was the first New Balance shoe to pair ENCAP inserts with a lightweight foam midsole, creating a setup that balanced softness and support. And that same construction ideal remains in the shoe today, giving the shoe its classic, timeless feel.
Based on the 997 that was first created in 1990, this is a shoe of its era.
