Teddi Mellencamp Hospitalized with 'Sores All Over My Entire Body' Amid Cancer Battle

Teddi Mellencamp recently faced another medical setback amid her cancer battle.

During the Tuesday (March 3) episode of her Two Ts in a Pod podcast, the 44-year-old former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star told co-host Tamra Judge that she was hospitalized with painful sores covering her “entire body.”

Keep reading to find out more…“I thought I had the flu. And then I woke up one day and my whole body was just covered in, like, this terrible rash,” Teddi explained. “Like, you can’t even say it’s a rash because it’s almost like sores all over my entire body.”

Teddi said that the sores “hurt” and “burned,” so doctors at an urgent care told her to get to the emergency room as fast as possible.

While at the hospital, Teddi discovered that a new medication she was on caused Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS).

According to the Mayo Clinic, SJS “is a rare, serious disorder of the skin and mucous membranes. It’s usually a reaction to medication that starts with flu-like symptoms, followed by a painful rash that spreads and blisters. Then the top layer of affected skin dies, sheds and begins to heal after several days.”

Teddi went on to say that she had blisters around her eyes, in her mouth, and “just everywhere,” adding that she couldn’t swallow. She was ultimately hospitalized and given steroid injections and antibiotics.

“The reason they were like, ‘You have to stay in [the hospital]‘ is because they can start to get better and then shift right back up,” she explained, sharing that after a few days, her symptoms got better and she was able to return home to celebrate her daughter Dove‘s 6th birthday after missing it last year.

“It wasn’t feeling great, but it’s just, like, the adrenaline from being there,” Teddi said. “I was so happy.”

If you didn’t know, Teddi was first diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022. After undergoing 17 surgeries for the invasive skin cancer, Teddi revealed in April 2025 that the cancer had metastasized to her brain and lungs.

Back in October, Teddi shared the exciting news that doctors found “no trace of cancer” in her body. She’s still considered stage four and is being treated with ongoing immunotherapy for the disease.
