Nancy Guthrie Update: Shocking Claim Emerges as Former FBI Agent Speaks Out
For weeks, one theory has quietly dominated online speculation about what happened to Nancy Guthrie: It was a robbery gone wrong.
Greg Rogers, a former FBI special agent, told Parade exclusively that he has never believed Nancy's disappearance was the result of a robbery gone wrong. Not for a single moment.
"I have never thought this was a robbery gone wrong," Rogers said. "There were too many opportunities to have hit the house when nobody was home. There are a good number of interstate home burglars that are much more careful, case homes, know when the owners are away, and are in and out in minutes. They do not hit residences when it is almost guaranteed someone is home."
Someone Who Knew Her
Rogers' reasoning goes beyond the timing of the break-in. He also pointed to the absence of any confirmed report that valuables were removed from Nancy's home — a detail that further undermines the botched robbery theory.
What Rogers believes instead is far more unsettling. In his assessment, whoever took Nancy Guthrie almost certainly knew her, or at minimum, knew enough about her life, her schedule, and her home to plan the abduction deliberately.
"I think it is highly likely that someone who knew Guthrie and/or had something to do with her — home maintenance, health care, yard and pool care — was involved," Rogers told Parade. "One of those persons could have been hired to give info about security systems, Guthrie's schedule, and so on. That person could have also worked in one of those positions to be able to learn that same information."

Where the Nancy Guthrie Case Stands
Authorities believe Nancy was abducted from her home in the early morning hours of February 1. Google Nest camera footage released by investigators shows an armed, masked individual on her doorstep that night — but despite the footage being widely circulated, no person of interest has been identified and no arrests have been made.
The Guthrie family's $1 million reward for information leading to Nancy's recovery remains active.
