SurfLoch’s New GT100 Wave Pool Packs 8ft Barrels Into Your Backyard
Just like many towns across the globe have their own public skatepark, the promise, within the world of manmade surfing, is that the same will happen with wave pools.
We’re not quite there, yet, but the wave pool business appears to be booming. Every other day, it seems, there’s a new pool being planned somewhere on the map.
So, in sticking with the skatepark analogy, it would make sense that wave pools would also become a private, at-home amenity, if things progress as they are, one day down the line. Like a backyard halfpipe…but make it surfing. Right?
SurfLoch, a longtime player in the wave pool space, has announced a compact version of their pneumatic wave-making technology, specifically designed for private residences, boutique resorts, or space-constrained locations. The new model? GT100.
Per a press release: “SurfLoch, the pioneer in artificial wave engineering, announces GT100, the latest wave pool model in its quiver. GT100 delivers a compact design that preserves SurfLoch’s hallmark ocean wave authenticity while empowering developers to bring world class surfing into smaller footprints. GT100 was engineered for space-conscious ventures such as personal homes, and exclusive hotel partners.”
Here are the specs on the new pool:
• Fits in an Olympic 50 m pool (50m x 25m | 164 ft x 82 ft) and up
• Dedicated left and right primary waves
• Up to 2.5m (8ft) performance waves
• Ride times up to ten seconds
• Barrel and air sections – wave shapes can include hollow barrels, carving faces and ramping sections.
• Beginner-friendly zones alongside high-performance lines – allowing multiple skill levels to surf simultaneously and safely.
• Efficient, scalable power delivery – SurfLoch’s patented pneumatic driven caissons require no moving parts in the water and minimize energy consumption.
• Compressed footprint - Industry-leading and patented wave damping system and flexible beach designs enable accommodations to any site constraint, including add-ons to a preexisting pool (50m+).
• Optional secondary reef - Increased capacity for simultaneous advanced and beginner sessions; increased income at no extra energy cost.

It also comes after SurfLoch announced another new technology, the WaveBender, which promises “ocean-like power and a uniquely sculptured wave face that bends toward the surfer creating a surfer’s dream wave.”
So, what do we think? Personal wave pools – just like at-home skateparks – in the near-future for those who can afford 'em? Stand by...going to check my bank statement.
