Why We Love This Deal
The North Face is in the middle of a huge winter sale that's hosting a cascade of deals on everything from top-rated packs to ski gear for up to 30% off through Mar. 2. But if you look closely, you can find even deeper discounts. One we were surprised to see is this near-40% off deal on the beloved Thermoball jacket.
The North Face Thermoball Jacket is on sale for as low as $140, up to a 36% discount from its normal price of $220, and a dollar cheaper than the sale price at Dick’s Sporting Goods. This jacket is one of TNF’s most popular and iconic pieces, a highly technical layer made from recycled fabrics and fill. With its quilted baffles and packable, layer-friendly design, it’s similar to Patagonia’s Nano Puff. Right now, the jacket is available across three colorways for $140, and an additional colorway is on sale for $155—but sizes are selling out fast.

What Shoppers Should Know
- Colorways Available: 3 for $140, 2 for $154, 2 full price
- Sizes Available: S-3XL, 2X-4X Big
- Shell & Lining: 100% recycled polyester
- Insulation: 100% recycled polyester
- Best For: Midlayer for winter sports, casual wear
The Thermoball is made from a 100% recycled polyester Windwall shell fabric, and it’s treated with a non-PFC DWR finish, so light rain and moisture will bead up and roll off the exterior. Inside, it’s lined with a slightly heftier 100% recycled polyester Windwall textile, and the jacket is stuffed with Thermoball synthetic insulation. The synthetic insulation retains its heat-trapping power even when damp, so you get reliable warmth in any weather.
The stand collar keeps your neck warm when the jacket is fully zipped up, and the lack of a hood makes this Thermoball ideal for layering under a shell in nastier weather. The jacket features two zippered hand pockets and an interior stash pocket, and it’s designed to be packable (you can stuff it into its right hand pocket).
Notably, the Thermoball isn't new, but that's a good thing. The style keeps getting necessary upgrades with each iteration, and compared to older versions, this one features a new quilting pattern that reduces cold spots.

What Shoppers Are Saying
Shoppers love the Thermoball’s “very warm and very light” design—it keeps you toasty without weighing you down. The other key highlight? You can use this jacket in so many ways. “This piece is a workhorse and so versatile,” said one shopper who wore it during ski trips and as an everyday casual jacket. It’s an ideal midlayer under a waterproof shell, or you can wear it on its own, and shoppers say it “can be used for moderate to very cold weather.”
At 36% off, the Thermoball is one of the best deals, if not the best, in the entire North Face lineup right now. Accordingly, it’s selling quickly and won’t stay in stock much longer. Snag yours before they’re all gone.
